PYF trip to play Tranmere Victoria Futsal Club

A group of players and coaches embarked on a trip to play against Tranmere Futsal, one of the top English Futsal clubs who have recently represented their country at UEFA Futsal Champions League level.

This was to be another tough challenge for the young Perth squad, who had excelled themselves in February by drawing 4-4 with current English champions Doncaster. As well as playing against the top Tranmere team, the PYF squad was also scheduled to play against the Tranmere Youths in what would be a true test of their development. Despite the main Tranmere team fielding 2 loan signings from Benfica Futsal in Portugal, the PYF team showed tremendous discipline, effort and composure to provide stern resistance against very experienced and impressive opponents. The eventual loss was no surprise but the 6-0 score was a reasonably narrow margin considering the quality of opposition.

The teams met again the following day, and to the credit of the Perth players who had analysed the previous game, the result was much closer. The 4-0 scoreline fails to show the amount of attacking play by the Perth team who, but for a string of superb saves by the Tranmere keeper, deserved some tangible reward for playing a great game.

With only a 5 minute rest, the Perth team then faced the Tranmere Youth team, and despite losing a soft early goal, the Perth Team went on to underline the level of their recent development to record a convincing 10-1 victory to finish the trip on a high, with every single player getting on the scoresheet.

Next stop for the PYF select teams will be a tournament in Hull at the beginning of August and training sessions will be announced soon to begin preparations for this trip.
