Perth Youth Futsal Spring 2004 League

Perth Youth Futsal’s Spring 2004 leagues concluded at Bells Sports Centre last Friday night and it was an evening full of action with plenty to play for.

In the 10 – 13 league, a late surge by Boca Juniors was just not quite enough to pip the leaders and they had to settle for second place, a point behind eventual winners Scorpions, who put on another solid display against Santos to claim their first title victory.

The 14 – 15 league had already been settled a couple of sessions ago, with Guildtown dominating the league from the start. Another commanding performance, this time against Luncarty Boys, helped underline their superiority which has been evident all season.

All the drama was reserved for the 16 – 19 league, as FC Sweden were on the verge of clinching the League and shoot-out double had they picked up full points on the night. In a tense encounter against fellow title contenders PGS Montebelluna, the title was settled by a solitary goal from the penalty spot. Unfortunately for FC Sweden, their first defeat of the season proved costly as they eventually slipped to third place. A late surge by last season’s champions Camelot was not enough and they had to settle for second place behind newcomers PGS Montebelluna, who proved to be the most consistent over the course of the season.

In the shoot-out leagues, Scottish Stars had already wrapped up the 10 – 13 title, but the race for second place was won by Scorpions, who moved up three places courtesy of their narrow win over Abernethy.

In the 14 – 15 league, Brazilian Babes managed to hold onto their lead to clinch the title, whilst FC Sweden romped home to clinch the 16 – 19 title.
